Play the rhythms from West Africa, birthplace of the djembe, as well as South Africa and the Caribbean. A relaxing way to share cultural history with an option to perform at festivals and events around the city. If you have a drum, please bring it along. Tutor: Wolde Selassie.

Discover the story of slavery and the campaign for its abolition by Elizabeth Heyrick, a Quaker abolitionist from Leicester. Heyrick wrote a pamphlet stating ‘Immediate and Not Gradual Abolition of Slavery’. A family event including arts and crafts, gospel music, poetry by young people, ‘slave food’ tasting and a re-enactor playing Elizabeth Heyrick.
